Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said that microcredit in poverty alleviation is not very effective at all.

But the role of microcredit in women's empowerment in rural economy is undeniable.On Thursday, Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) chairman and economist said. He said these at the publishing ceremony of 'Sociobi Economic of Bangladesh Truth', a compilation book written by Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad.The Finance Minister was the chief guest at the PKSF auditorium. Kazi Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Director General of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) Tawfiq Ahmad Chowdhury and professor of economics at Dhaka University Nazma Begum.Muhith said in 1977 study conducted under the leadership of Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad found that in our rural areas, people spend 60 percent of their total time in different productive activities, which teaches us to think about the new rural economy.
