Child rights enforcement organization Save the Children has requested the Ministry of Finance to reconsider the budget allocation for 'primary and mass education' in the proposed national budget 2017-18.

According to a press release from the organization on Sunday, the organization has given the allocation of Tk 140 crore to the new budget compared to the original budget of the last fiscal year.The notification said that allocation for the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education in the original budget of 2016-17 was Tk 22,162 crore. But this year 22 thousand 22 crore taka has been allocated. Last year, 14.4 percent of the national budget was in the education sector. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Secondary and Higher Secondary, Technical and Madrasah Division has decreased this year to 12.6 percent.
